You must demonstrate a reasonable degree of aerobic fitness to perform duties as an operational police officer involving periods of intense and strenuous physical exertion.
The same Fitness Standard (PDF) is required of all applicants, regardless of age or gender.
You can undertake these assessments, except the swimming, at a Queensland Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) without any charge. If residing within QLD and have access to a PCYC, you must complete this assessment at a PCYC, in the case there are extraordinary circumstances, you can seek approval from QPS Recruiting to engage with an alternate assessor.
If residing outside of QLD, you can use a PCYC equivalent organisation or an accredited personal trainer (accredited with Certificate III or Certificate IV). In these instances, the applicant is responsible for associated costs.
If undertaking the assessment outside of a Queensland PCYC, you must make an unedited video recording of the completion of this assessment and retain a copy of this recording in your personal records. This recording may be requested at any time throughout the process, do not provide this recording unless requested to do so. Recruiting may also contact the PT to confirm assessment details if required
Applicants must pass all components of the physical assessment before being offered a position as a recruit.
Passed fitness assessment results are valid for 6 months.
